Hylton Appelbaum

Hylton Appelbaum is a director of Liberty Holdings Limited, Kagiso Trust Investment Company Limited and Kagiso Media Limited. He is an executive trustee of the Liberty Foundation, the Liberty Educational Foundation and the Donald Gordon Foundation and is a trustee of various organisations including Kagiso Trust and The Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund. He is chairman of Mindset Network and Classic FM.

She was previously the deputy chair of Womens’ Investment Portfolio Limited (Wiphold), the first woman-controlled company to list on the JSE with assets in excess of R1 billion.

Temba Nolutshungu is a director of the Free Market Foundation, Cape Town, a former director of the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront Company and a trustee of several organisations. He is widely published and his topics span a variety of issues.

Sipho Seepe

Sipho Seepe is a higher education and strategy consultant. He was formerly president of the South African Institute of Race Relations and director of Henley Management College. Holding degrees in physics and mathematics, Seepe's research interests include the cultural, social and political dimensions of mathematical and scientific knowledge. A Fulbright and Harvard-South Africa Fellow, he has published several books and has written extensively on current affairs in both Business Day and the Mail & Guardian.

Jane Evans

A pioneer in rural pre-school education in South Africa, Jane Evans established Ntataise, a non governmental organisation working in the field of early childhood development. She serves on the boards of a number of non profit organisations and sits on a provincial government advisory committee. For a number of years she managed a corporate social investment fund for a major South African company. She has received various awards for her work in education.

Nicole Jaff

Nicole Jaff is a women’s rights activist, author, columnist and speaker on menopause and women’s health. She is presently completing her PhD in the departments of Chemical Pathology and Endocrinology, Faculty of Health Sciences, at the University of the Witwatersrand. Nicole chairs the Bright Kid Foundation, and has worked with various associations including the Family Life Centre, the Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation, the Phelophepa Primary Healthcare Train and the National Mental Health Association (USA).

In addition to the HSF he chairs the Board of Governors of Michaelhouse, the fund-raising arm of the Alexandra Education Committee, the fund- raising arm of Business Against Crime and the Beyond Foundation which does community work in rural areas.

David Unterhalter

David Unterhalter serves as chairman of the Appellate Body of the World Trade Organisation. He has enjoyed a leading practice as a barrister working on trade, competition, and public law. He practices in London and in Johannesburg as a senior counsel. He holds a chair at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, and has published widely on competition law, the law of evidence, and public law. He has held visiting professorships at University College London and Columbia University.
