William Gumede is Honorary Associate Professor, Public & Development Management & Board Member, Centre for Public Enterprises (CPE), University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg; and Senior Associate & Head of Africa and Emerging Powers program, Foreign Policy Centre (FPC), London. He is a contributing commentator for The Guardian, London. He held positions in the South African student, trade union and civic movements, including having worked as a communications officer and senior researcher for the Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu). He was peace mediator and area co-ordinator for the National Peace Committee, the all-party committee mandated to monitor and resolve political violence during South Africa’s all-party negotiations for a democratic South Africa (CODESA). He was seconded to South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission to turn the findings of the commission into an accessible format. He has written several books including the recently released bestselling Restless Nation (Tafelberg, 2012).

Nicole Jaff is a women’s rights activist, author, columnist and speaker on menopause and women’s health. She is presently completing her PhD in the departments of Chemical Pathology and Endocrinology, Faculty of Health Sciences, at the University of the Witwatersrand. Nicole chairs the Bright Kid Foundation, and has worked with various associations including the Family Life Centre, the Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation, the Phelophepa Primary Healthcare Train and the National Mental Health Association (USA).

Busi Mabuza is Non-Executive Chairman of the Airports Company South Africa. She served as Non-Executive Chairman of CEF (Pty) Ltd for a period of five years since February 2007 having previously served as an independent non-executive director of the same company. She spent the bulk of her professional career in private equity and asset management. Busi has worked as a consultant with a range of assignments in the transport sector. She also serves as a non-executive director on the listed Afgri Limited board of directors. Busi holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from the City University of New York (Hunter College) and an MBA from the Stern School of Business (New York University).

Krishna Patel was born in Nairobi, Kenya.
Krishna Patel has been with HSBC for 27 years, serving in a number of senior positions. He has previously been Chairman and Chief Executive of HSBC's Global Investment Banking division and Chairman of Emerging Europe and Africa. He was appointed a Group General Manager in 2000.
Banking giant HSBC recently announced the appointment of Krishna Patel as Chief Executive of Global Private Banking. Mr Patel will initially be based in Geneva, Switzerland.

Gary Ralfe
Gary Ralfe retired from active business life in 2006 after forty years of service firstly with Anglo American Corporation, and then with De Beers where he was Managing Director for eight years. In addition to the HSF he chairs the Board of Governors of Michaelhouse, the fund-raising arm of the Alexandra Education Committee, the fund- raising arm of Business Against Crime and the Beyond Foundation which does community work in rural areas.

Sipho Seepe is a higher education and strategy consultant. He was formerly president of the South African Institute of Race Relations and director of Henley Management College. Holding degrees in physics and mathematics, Seepe's research interests include the cultural, social and political dimensions of mathematical and scientific knowledge. A Fulbright and Harvard-South Africa Fellow, he has published several books and has written extensively on current affairs in both Business Day and the Mail & Guardian.
