The Helen Suzman Memorial Lecture is an annual event hosted in association with  the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, the Kaplan Centre for Jewish Studies and Research at UCT, and Iziko Museums of Cape Town.  The Lecture  honours the contribution that Helen Suzman made in the fight for human rights and the rule of law in South Africa. It also honours her extraordinary contribution to public service.

This year the Lecture will be held at the South African National Gallery. The guest speaker will be Dr Mamphela Ramphele, former Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Town and past Managing Director of the World Bank. She is the Executive Chairperson of Circle Capital Ventures, a venture capital, black economic empowerment company in Cape Town. A woman of courage and integrity, Mamphela continues in Helen’s tradition of encouraging South Africans to speak truth to power.

All are welcome. Refreshments will be served after the Lecture.
