The debate around electoral reform in South Africa has had a distinct journey with the constitutional negotiators opting for a system of closed-list proportional representation at national and provincial levels of government with a mixed system having been adopted at local government level. As we approach an election period it is crucial to, once again, ask ourselves some key questions as a nation as to whether our electoral system is not in need of reform to ensure responsive and accountable representation that enhances the public trust in our institutions of governance at a delicate time in our ongoing march to a solidified consolidated democracy. Join the Helen Suzman Foundation for a lively debate on these crucial questions. We have gathered a Panel of eminent analysts and politicians including:

Jonathan Faull - IDASA
Norman du Plessis - IEC
Sipho Seepe – HSF Board
Zwelethu Jolobe - UCT
Sandra Botha, MP – DA
(Further Panelists to be confirmed)
